Digital Well Integrity
When the demands on your assets have never been greater, you can’t afford anything less than the very best monitoring solutions. Based on distributed fibre optic sensing technology, Sensornet’s Digital Well Integrity provides condition monitoring along the entire completion. Digital Well Integrity is one of the tools in Sensornet’s Digital Production Monitoring Solutions.
Applications that benefit from Digital Well Integrity include
- Casing Condition Monitoring
- Casing cement job integrity
- Inflow Contral Valve monitoring
- Gas Lift monitoring
- ESP temperature monitoring
- Prevention of hydrate formation
Sensornet’s Digital Well Integrity provides measurements at all points along the well bore. As well as the tubing and casing, every inwell component is monitored continuously (e.g. gas lift valves, electrical submersible pumps, packers, safety valves etc.). The complete thermal profile along the tubing ensures flow assurance by identifying temperatures associated with the precipitation of scale and hydrates. In thermal recovery applications Digital Well Integrity provides early warning of steambreak through.
Benefits for Planning
By detecting fluid movement behind casing or tubing or casing leaks the well engineer will have a greater understanding of the intervention or workover requirements. This will help in pro-active planning of resources and a significant reduction in downtime and deferred production. Any safety and environmental risks can be identified and managed to an appropriate level.
In extreme events where integrity issues lead to plugging and abandoning the well (e.g. compaction, subsidence) the production engineer will have advance warning and will be adequately prepared to shut down the well in a controlled manner and also salvage expensive components from the wellbore.
Benefits at Operational Level
By monitoring the gas lift valve operation the production engineer will be able to optimise the injection rate. Any underperformance due to tubing leaks or improper valve operation can be immediately identified and remedied either through a rate change or intervention to replace faulty equipment. A significant saving in intervention and service cost can be realised, while at the same time allowing maximum production rates and uptime.
