Sensornet’s enhances technical expertise with new appointments
Sensornet, the global provider of the most advanced monitoring solutions, has announced the appointment of a new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and VP Production and Technology as it continues to expand its international network.
Dan Watley, a chartered engineer with a Masters and PhD from Cambridge University, UK has been appointed as CTO and will be responsible for establishing Sensornet's technical vision and leading all aspects of the company's technology development through research collaborations and strategic partnerships. He will also be responsible for the management and enforcement of intellectual property rights. He has authored 15 journal and conference papers and has filed seven patents to date.
Dan joined Sensornet in 2002 after ten years with Nortel Networks, where he was involved in the research and development of optical communications systems. Upon joining Sensornet he was responsible for the development of Distributed Temperature Strain Sensing (DTSS) technology before accepting responsibility for coordinating the development of the company’s entire product range.
With over 15 years of experience in research and development of fibre optic systems, Peter Kean has been appointed as VP Production and Technology. He will be responsible for the execution of the company's technology development, bringing new products to market as well as production of the company's instruments and customer support management.
Peter, who is a member of the IET (formerly IEE) and IOP, holds a PhD from St Andrews University, Scotland and has worked within both university and industrial organisations. He latterly worked with Nortel Networks where he was involved in product development for fibre optic communications systems. Since joining Sensornet in 2003, Peter has been responsible for the production of the company’s Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) product range. Peter has authored over 20 journal and conference papers and is a co-inventor on two patents.
