Sensornet presenting at DEVEX, Aberdeen 15th May
13 Mar 2008
Sensornet will be presenting at DEVEX 2008 5th European Production and Development Conference
Wellbore and reservoir data from production logs (PLT) and permanent downhole monitoring is very important, if not crucial, to successfully manage production, update reservoir models and develop long term field plans.
Understanding the distribution of injection and production profiles and allocation of flow is fundamental to managing production and maximising sweep efficiency. Production logs (PLT) are performed infrequently, yearly at best, on the majority of wells to provide such data. The reasons for this are typically operational cost, deferred production, risk to well productivity and poor logistics between well service and subsurface teams.
Fibre optic Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) systems were first deployed 13 years ago. In that time, use of DTS data has been evolving from simple well integrity monitoring – leak detection, downhole tool operation, gas lift optimisation etc. – to understanding injection and flow profiles and allocation of flow. This presentation held at DEVEX 2008 will discuss the enhanced use of permanently installed DTS technology to provide continuous real time PLT type data.
