Sensornet leads the way in presenting technical paper at Jicable conference 2007

Sensornet, together with one of our partner companies Powersure Technology, lead the way in presenting a technical paper in the “Submarine Cables” session at the Jicable insulated power cable conference, June 25-27. The paper, titled "Application of temperature sensing and dynamic strain monitoring to subsea cable technology", presented the next generation of Distributed Sensing Technology.

Topics presented include:

  • Challenges of subsea cables
  • Next generation distributed sensing technology
  • Principles
  • Temperature & strain monitoring
  • Price performance improvement
  • Dynamic cable rating over a distribution network
  • Installation of sensor in subsea cables
  • Modelling of results

Richard Kluth, Marketing Director of Sensornet comments, “This innovative technology really caught the attention of the audience and generated a great deal of discussion. Sensornet and Powersure are proud to be leading the way in this area of expertise in extending the lifetime of power assets using Distributed Sensing Technology. Sensornet’s capabilities of providing Dynamic Strain measurements and accurate temperature measurements at distances greater than 30km is unique and is a key benefit for subsea cables operators.”
