Sensornet presents advanced distributed temperature sensors at SEAFOM
SEAFOM is an international joint industry forum promoting the growth of fiber optical sensing in subsea applications. Sensornet gave an insightful presentation at the latest SEAFOM conference in Amsterdam on 23 May 2007, titled "Advanced Distributed Optical Fibre Temperature Sensors".
The highlights of the presentation included the significant benefits of the Sentinel DTS:
- Fine temperature resolution < 0.01oC - allowing precise flow allocation in complex producing wells detecting events others do not see
- Faster measurement times – down to 10 seconds - which is vital to enable analysis of transients in a well, such as injector profiling and monitoring water/steam break through
- Better dynamic range - greater tolerance to change in optical power budget (splices, connectors and fibre losses). The Sentinel DTS-XR (0-30km) achieves <0.2°C at 30km, providing a possible solution for long subsea tie-backs
- Lower power consumption and wide environmental operating temperature - the Oryx DTS development provides a remote standalone DTS unit, that could form the platform for a subsea DTS.
Sensornet also presented various independent evaluations of the Sentinel DTS in scientific and industrial applications, showing how our leading real-time monitoring solutions are setting new standards and opening up new applications.
