World firsts and technological milestones
Since its inception 10 years ago, Sensornet has gone from strength to strength to have become a game-changing asset monitoring solution provider.
The company was launched in 1998 by two fibre optics experts in London, initially establishing itself as a consulting business and starting the development of the Sentinel DTS and distributed strain sensor (DTSS). In 2002 venture capital was injected to enable Sensornet to take its developments to market.
Today Sensornet provides the world’s most advanced asset monitoring solutions using real-time distributed temperature and strain measuring systems. It provides the complete Digital Monitoring package to the global oil and gas, power, and hydro industries. Sensornet has the most complete offering – with a full suite of hardware, installation, project management and interpretation services.
World firsts and technological milestones include
- First DTS to operate in extreme conditions -40 to +65ºC (Oryx DTS, 2008)
- First DTS installed with Inflow Control Device (ICD) system (2008)
- First DTS installed in Maximum Reservoir Contact (MRC) well (2008)
- Finest temperature resolution < 0.01°C (0.004ºC measured in oil well)
- First installation of casing conveyed DTS system (2007)
- Only DTS system with range >30km using multimode fibre (since 2005)
- First distributed dynamic strain measurement – frequency: 10 Hz
- Only temperature-independent distributed strain sensor
Headquartered in London, Sensornet has grown exponentially across all five continents and currently has bases in Dubai, Bahrain, Calgary, Houston, Kuala Lumpur and Aberdeen. Sensornet has also established key strategic partnerships with regional companies to provide local, integrated solutions and after-service care for its customers.
Sensornet’s award winning technology is supported by a highly qualified and experienced technical, operations and management team, which has provided multimillion dollar turnkey solutions to many of the world’s leading blue-chip companies. The company is ISO 9001 accredited, with zero lost time due to injury.
To push the business even further, the company is now diversifying its product line to provide a range of monitoring solutions which are not solely focused on fibre optics as it aims to provide an integrated solution for customers.
